Board of Christian Education

The Board of Christian Education at the Chantilly Baptist Church provides general oversight and direction for the total educational program of the church. Also, the Board provides guidance and assistance to other official boards, auxiliaries, and other organizational components of the church in developing and conducting Christian Educational programs and activities. The Board is composed of the Pastor, Sunday School Superintendent, who are ex-officio members, and elected Co-Chairpersons and representatives from various organizational units from across the Church, including a member at large from the general congregation.

To carry out its functional mandates, the Board uses various methods and procedures to (1) identify the training needs of the church, including consultation with the Pastor, deacons, deaconesses, auxiliary heads, and general congregational surveys; (2) develop or assist in the development and implementation of specific Christian educational programs and activities to meet the training needs of the church; and (3) evaluate training results in order to refine and improve future training initiatives.

Over the years, the Board has worked to conduct, sponsor, or encourage member participation is such Christian educational programs and activities as:

  • Weekly Bible Study Sessions
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Christian Educational Workshops covering such topics as “Ministry Through Relationships,” “Evangelism – In Preparation and In Practice,” “Handling Your Finances God’s Way,” and “Determining My Values for Life – Focus on Youths.”
  • Church-Wide Christian Educational Retreat
  • Local, area, and State Christian Education Conventions and Seminars
  • Church Leadership Institutes and Conferences
The Board is committed to continuing its work under the direction of the Holy Spirit to edify and build up the body of Christ at Chantilly Baptist Church for Christian service to the Chantilly community and to the uttermost parts of the world.

Usher Board

The ushers are posted at the various entrances into the church sanctuary. The ushers are the first people that members and visitors come in contact with when entering. The Ushers provide seating guidance, enforce the pastor's directions for those entering and leaving the sanctuary. Ushers deliver the offering plates and collect the offerings of those who give.

Ushers also provide general order and directions, and are the fire wardens in case of emergency.

Ushers provide a smile and a friendly greeting to welcome all into the House of the Lord.

Deacon Board

Responsible for administering the spiritual life of the church. A group of deeply dedicated, friendly, outgoing Christian men who care about all of God’s people. Deacons are ready to respond in any area of life, but especially in case of sickness, family problems, death of loved ones, or times of special joy, offering Christian friendship and support and notifying the Pastor when there is a particular need for pastoral care. Promoting spiritual growth and church ministries to the membership and the community.

Deaconess Board

Laywomen commissioned to ministries of love and service. Consecrated by the church to a ministry of Word and service working in a variety of settings – health care, Christian education and social services. They shall understand and comfort those with special needs, and aid the pastor in areas so designated by him. Deaconess are women who play a vital role in the mission of the church. Affirmed of being called by God to lifetime service through the church; committed to Christ and dedicated to His commission.

Trustee Board

Positions of lay leadership. Responsible for the physical assets of the church and it’s functions and business matters. Trustees have many responsibilities related to the church’s financial affairs and property management The protection, management and upkeep of church property is a critical element of the building of God’s kingdom. Attend to the upkeep and improvement of church buildings and property, legal matters involving the church, assist in making decisions on financial matters as well as church policy and assisting in church planning.
